IALIBU Secondary School in Southern Highlands held a successful two-day cultural show which coincided with the 38th Independence Day anniversary celebrations.
Students were dressed in their traditional costumes and took part in the show on Friday and Saturday.
The show’s theme “To promote and preserve culture” was an initiative of the school management to help students uphold their culture and traditions.
Ialibu town mayor Jacob Iki commended the students for the colourful show in his closing address on Saturday.
Iki, who is the school’s board chairman, told the students to take pride in their culture and tradition.
“This is your identity, as Southern Highlanders. We must take ownership and keep our cultures alive and pass them on to the next generation.”
Iki urged parents to teach their children about their respective cultures.
