Customs covers staff under health insurance policy

PNG Customs employees and members of their immediate families are now covered under a new health insurance policy, says chief commissioner David Towe.
The policy covers 430 employees and their families of around 1,000.
An agreement was signed with PNG Health Assurance yesterday.
“Unlike the previous policy that only covers Customs officers, this one covers the officers, their legal spouses and dependents,” Towe said.
“A healthy workforce is essential for the organisation to thrive and progress.
“Customs is providing this and in return, I expect the best in terms of performance and productivity to deliver our core outcomes of border security, international trade facilitation, community protection and revenue collection.
“Including the officers’ legal spouses and dependents confirms our sensitivity that performance can be improved when their family’s healthcare are secured through this medical insurance.”
