A NEW Ireland man was arraigned in the Waigani Committal Court on three counts of forgery last Friday.

The 28-year-old was accused of forging Customs documents, including entry form 15,  assessment receipt and import duty receipt with a false Customs stamp in Port Moresby between January and July last year.

Magistrate Cosmas Bidar read the charges and told the man he would have to wait for the police to complete their investigation.

“At this stage your charges are mere allegations until they are proven in court. Police will conduct investigations, it will take time,” Bidar said.

Bidar ordered the accused to remain in Port Moresby until his case was fully determined by the court and that he should not interfere with police witnesses.

He will next appear for mention on Aug 6.
