NEW Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL) has backed the Kimbe Cutters with K50,000 ahead of the Digicel Cup season which is expected to kick off on April 5.
NBPOL chief executive Jamie Graham said in Port Moresby yesterday that the company was excited to sponsor the side, who are heading into their second season in the country’s premier rugby league competition. “We have been supporting other teams in Kimbe over the past years and now, we’re extremely excited to assist Cutters,” Graham said.
“I’m sure the Cutters will be more successful than the previous season and we’d like to pledge our support to the team.”
Meanwhile, Cutters chairman Dominic Kaumu thanked NBPOL for the support.
“NBPOL is synonymous with West New Britain. It has been part and parcel of the team,” he said.
“The company has contributed to the development of sports in Kimbe and other parts of the country.
“Therefore, on behalf of the club, I’m very pleased to receive the cheque and acknowledge NBPOL for their continued support to sports.
“We believe the team will perform well to lead as a pathway for future generations of West New Britain to become good citizens.
“I also want to assure NBPOL that at the board level, we are going to be accountable to our corporate sponsors.
“Thus, at the end of the year, we will furnish all our financial reports before handing them over to our corporate sponsors and the provincial government because the Cutters are also supported by the West New Britain government.”
