Cutters take on Tigers

NEWCOMERS Kimbe Cutters host the Lae Snax Tigers in their Digicel Cup Round 2 fixture at the Peter Humphrey Rugby League Oval in Kimbe on Sunday.
The Cutters, who dropped their opening match 34-20 to the Central Dabari, face perhaps their toughest challenge against the two-time (20-16-2017) champions.
The Tigers, who beat the Kroton Hela Wigmen 12-8 in Lae last week, are expected to add their second win with their more experienced side coached by Stanley Tepend.
The Tigers have a quality lineup including former Hunters Andy John, Ishmael Balkawa and Esau Siune.
In Kokopo, the Agmark Gurias host the Wigmen with Gurias coach Steven Nightingale saying they are excited to host their first home game.
“Kalabond is known as the graveyard for visiting teams and we’re excited to host the Wigmen on Sunday,” Nightingale said.
Nightingale said their 26-10 win over the Port Moresby Vipers was a good start but they needed to improve their handling and defence.
“A first win away from home was a good start for the season.”
In Port Moresby first round winners Dabari and the Gulf Isou will face their litmus tests when they host the Eagles and Lahanis in a double header in Port Moresby.
