FORTUNA Fresh Central Dabari coach Chris Enara says his side has the talent to do well in the Digicel Cup after their 34-20 win over the Kimbe Cutters on Sunday.
Enara commended hookers Patrick Morea and John Boge who complemented halves Allan Simbiri and Junior Belo.
“Patrick and John were very sharp in their work out of dummy half and that was the difference,” Enara said.
“There is a lot of room for improvement though.”
Enara said his side displayed a good standard but would need to back it up agains the Wamp Nga Hagen Eagles on Sunday.
Enara said he was pleased to see the Central community turn out in Kimbe to support them and hoped the team received similar support at their away matches this season.
Enara said the Dabari passed their first test against fellow debuting franchise the Cutters becuase of their preparation.
“We had 13 weeks of training and then trials before the first game of the season.
“It’s been a challenge for us to prepare for Digicel Cup but we’ve been able to get a good staff together and a great sponsor and board to put our best foot forward.”
Enara, who is an experienced coach with stints with the Gulf Isapea as well as a long career in the Port Moresby Rugby League, is supported by head trainer Arua Ben Moide and a staff that also includes former Kumul Gimapau Keimelo.
“We knew we had the more experienced side on paper but this would our first game in the competition and it was away so we had to be at our best.”
Enara agreed that it was just the first game of the competition but they were looking forward to Sunday’s fixture at the National Football Stadium and expected a large number of Central people to show up to support them.
“It’s early days but we’ll train hard during the week and get ready for the Eagles.”
