VITIS Central Dabari executive headed by bid chairman Keith Iduhu submitted its expression of interest (EOI) to the Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition exectuive director Stanley Hondina yesterday .
This signifies that the Central provincial team is a step closer to make the dream a reality to being part of the 2019 Digicel Cup rugby league competition.
During the EOI presentation ceremony, Iduhu thanked the major sponsor Vikkii Mosin for making everything possible with a full sponsorship package but also agreeing to support Dabari over the next three years.
“We were only a team on paper but we’re very grateful to Vikkii and her husband Sergey Mosin for their support,” Iduhu said.
“We’re happy to receive a positive response from the PNGNRLC regarding our bid for the next year’s Digicel Cup competition.”
The Expression of Interest document was presented to Hondina in front of PNGRFL chief executive officer Reatau Rau, former Central regional member Ted Diro, former Kavieng MP Ben Micah, Dabari committee members and other Central leaders.
There were three bid documents placed in a basket knitted in Central way and a dummy cheque for K100,000 which is a non-refundable registration fee. The team would be known as the Vitis Central Dabari.
“We are confident that PNGNRLC will rule in our favour.
Hondina commended the Dabari committee for submitting their bid. “Every team becomes a successful team at the end of the day when their management is strong,” Hondina said.
“We commend the efforts of the Dabari committee especially Keith Iduhu for organising things.”
Hondina said he would take the bid to his committee and they would deliberate on it and return a decision in two weeks.
Hondina said the Dabari were the first team out of the four new franchises that actually presented its bid documents.
The deadline for bid submission set by PNGNRLC is on Friday.
