Dabaris record 2nd win

CENTRAL Dabaris recorded their second win in the Digicel Cup season as they defeated Mt Hagen Eagles 30-20 at the Santos National Football Stadium yesterday.
Winger Douglas Pirika was hard to handle by the Eagles defence as he scored a hat-trick.
Dabaris No.6 Morea Morea Jr and halfback Pokapen Pes starred in the game as the Eagles succumbed to their fourth loss of the season.
The Dabaris scored just two minutes in when Douglas Pirika made a break and ran 50m to set up center Wallen Tau who raised away to score in the corner.
Winger Pirika made another break in the 18th minute, this time he ran 80m to score in the corner.
Five minutes before halftime, man-of-the-match Pirika scored his second try after he took an intercept from an Eagles attacking move and ran another 70m to score.
Hooker Presley Soto failed to convert all of the Dabaris’ tries in the first half.
The Eagles scored an unconverted try through winger Elijah Peter on the stroke of halftime as they trailed 4-12 at the break.
The Dabaris scored two tries straight after halftime through centres Johnson Peter and Cyril Seiba. Tekila Kini converted the tries which saw the Dabaris lead 24-4 in the 65th minute.
Eagles forward Norman William’s try and Elijah Peter who completed his double in the 70th minutes saw them claw their way back to trail 14-24. However, Pirika completed his hat-trick five minutes from fulltime which saw them extend their lead to 30-14 as Kini kicked the conversion. The Eagles scored on the stroke of full-time to lose by 10 points
