By HENRY MORABANG
THE Daffodil Corporate Golf Challenge sponsored by Oil Search Ltd is on again on Aug 20.
The golf challenge is to raise funds for the benefit of the Port Moresby Cancer Relief Society (POMCRS).
Oil Search Ltd corporate affairs manager Ruth Waram commended the support of business communities in Port Moresby and Lae for supporting the fundraising drive for the past 10 years.
Waram said, so far, 38 corporate companies had confirmed their participation but there were spaces for up to 44 teams.
An autographed Brisbane Broncos jersey will be one of several items on auction during the evening.
The jersey, containing the autographs of the current Brisbane Broncos team was presented to the president of Port Moresby Cancer Relief Society Dadi Toka Jr by Broncos marketing manager Marty Rowen.
Waram said a potential buyer had already placed an opening bid of K5,000 for the signed jersey.
POMCRS will also be selling daffodil merchandise to observe the Daffodil Day on Aug 27.
Companies wishing to register their teams should immediately contact Waram and Rigani Thoa at Oil Search on 3225599 or via the following email address [email protected] or [email protected] search.com or Bindi Tokwepota of POMCRS on [email protected].
President of POMCRS Dadi Toka thanked Oil Search for taking the lead in supporting the society.
The money raised from the corporate golf challenge would go a long way to support the work of POMCRS especially Ward C at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
Toka said POMCRS really need financial assistance to carry out its work and awareness in Port Moresby where 10 cancer cases were reported every day.
The POMCRS chief and Waram made special mention of Lae-based Mapai Transport which have been flying in for the Daffodil Cup for the past 10 years.
