RISING rugby league centre Sonny Daing will be the man Kongo Coffee Simbu Warriors will be relying on to walk over ATCL Lae Bombers when they lock horns against each other in Lae on Sunday when bemobile Cup enters round three this weekend.
The 22-year-old Daing saved Warriors with two tries to give Masta Mak City Rangers a 20-16 thumping before a parochial crowd in Kundiawa last Sunday.
Daing, who was later named man-of-the-match, walked away with K400 sponsored by Gumine MP Lucas Dawa.
Daing, who is the son of Gumine district administrator Daing Kil, will this time, be eyeing the K1,000 man-of-the-match award, up for grabs for the Warriors away game in Lae.
After their win, the fired-up Warriors will be led by skipper and prop George Baker, who will be closely backed by inform second rower Jerry Kutz, to will lead their onslaught against the Bombers.
Daing’s efforts in the backline will be engineered by little general halfback Willie Guambo, who will be supported by five-eighth David Jones.
Outside centre Tiger Emere will work along side Daing to set up flankers, Bal Bako and Michael Singapa, to push for try opportunities in the corner.
Warriors coach John Wamil Gul, who was lost for words after their victory last Sunday, is looking for nothing less than a win in their first away game.
