DALTRON Pty Ltd has acquired a new satellite technology that gives users internet access.
The company said that it was part of a total network solution for business or home office users throughout Papua New Guinea based on its new VSAT service.
Based on the iDirect platform, the C-Band very small aperture terminal (VSAT) solution offers users an improvement on existing services, providing higher reliability and availability; reduced outages due to adverse weather conditions; higher bandwidth options and more cost-effective utilisation of communications budgets.
The iDirect platform was specifically designed for TCP/IP traffic, upon which the internet and most-modern day communications were based, especially the internet.
Communication services manager Warwick Vele said yesterday this service was aimed at opening up remote parts of PNG to give people an opportunity to experience modern ways of conducting business and keeping in touch.
He said this new service would greatly enhance the existing services Daltron currently provided, with the improved speed allowing users greater flexibility in how they configured and utilised their networks.
The higher speeds and reduced downtime would allow businesses to be more efficient and provide end-users with a greater online experience.
Vele added the new platform could allow users to connect to anywhere in the world.
He said Daltron, being a partner with big names such as Cisco and Microsoft, provided an advantage for users as the company leveraged its skills and expertise in these technology areas.
As an example, Daltron is a Microsoft Gold Partner and would be offering innovative products such as Microsoft’s Office 365 services directly from its modern data centre in Waigani.
