Air Niugini flights into Buka Airport in Bougainville remain suspended because of damage to runway lights, according to the management. The airline said there would be no flights until the damaged precision approach path indicator (PAPI) lights were repaired. Flights were suspended on April 10. The lights help pilots when landing. “Air Niugini regrets the inconvenience caused, however, safety is always of paramount importance in our operations,” the statement said.
