Dame Meg welcomes concerted efforts
The National, Thursday February 25th, 2016
DAME Meg Taylor has welcomed co-ordination and cooperation among nations in the Pacific in looking for solutions to common problems.
She is in Apia, Samoa, where officers from the National Planning and Monitoring Department are attending an exchange programme to build strong regional ties and experiences.
“These peer to peer exchanges are an excellent example of the co-ordination and cooperation we speak of when we talk about regionalism in the Pacific,” Dame Meg, the Secretary-General of the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat, said.
“Our leaders in 2009 called for the Pacific to find our own solutions to the unique shared challenges in our region.
“I am grateful to the Government of Samoa for their continuing leadership and commitment to supporting south-south cooperation in the Pacific region.
“I also commend the Government of PNG for their interest and commitment to continuously improve and to also learn from its Pacific neighbours.”
