Danaya’s arrest condemned

EXECUTIVES of the Papua New Guinea Labour Party have deplored “in the strongest terms” the arrest of their parliamentary leader Dr Bob Danaya.
The party executives met yesterday to condemn the arrest of the Western province governor who had declared war on corrupt leaders.
The executives said in a statement: “We confirm that what is happening to our leader is clear manifestation of evil plans pre-meditated, timely manufactured and delivered.
“What the people are witnessing today is not democracy but a democracy deeply rooted in our political administration, the State institutions and State civil service and police hierarchy.”
They said parliamentarians had failed to eradicate “this incurable disease that is quickly eating away at the moral and ethical values and principles enshrined in our national Constitution”.
“We firmly believe that the political parties in PNG are not immune from the deadly epidemic. They will stop at nothing to seize power and wealth,” they said.
