BOYS from Palenkwa village attending the Baiyune High School and Sambio Primary School in Bulolo are not staging an act. This is how they get to and from school every day.The wire ropes are all that is left of the swing bridge constructed by the Morobe Mining Joint Ventures which the people used until it was washed away by floods last year.  The boys chose to swing across the river while others use inflated tubes to cross the raging Watut River with their store goods.A few kilometres downstream at Sambio village, some residents of the Leselek hamlet had lost their lives and properties while trying to cross the river from Dusty Iwas hamlet, situated on the highway.Five lives have been lost in the past few years. The most recent one was an elementary school child who slipped off the inflated tube his parents were maneuvering across the river.
His body was found miles downstream at Taiyek village and was buried there.
Properties including store goods and bicycles are also lost.
