Dangima petition to be heard in Chimbu
The National, Friday 31st May 2013
AN election petition disputing the Kerowagi open seat in Chimbu won by Camillus Dangima in the last elections has been set for trial in Kundiawa, Chimbu, next Tuesday.
Dangima survived one of the three election petitions earlier after petitioner Peter Kuman discontinued his in the court of Disputed Returns last year.
Dangima has two more election petitions to go and they were by his runner-up and former MP Guma Wau and Bari Palma.
Wau and Palma, who finished third in the race for the Kerowagi open seat in the 2012 elections, are alleging errors and omissions by the Electoral Commission.
Yesterday, the petition came before Justice Ere Kariko for ruling on the competency of the petition filed by the commission and Dangima but the judge refused their application and ordered the petition to be set for trial next Tuesday.
On the issue of attestations, Kariko said the witnesses had properly attested by correctly stating their occupations with their addresses.
