Dangma wrong to hold back beneficial project

I SUPPORT Tambra of Lae to renovate the Kerowagi mobile squad barracks.

It is really a need as officers are living in deteriorated housing conditions.

In 2011, some kind-hearted  Kerowagians willingly submitted a proposal to the Department of National Planning and Monitoring to assist in funding the renovation work  of  the  barracks  infrastructure facilities.

The proposal was endorsed and a funding of K2 million was allocated for this.

To date, the funds are said  to  be in  a Police Department trust account.

However, Kerowagi MP Camillus Dangma mentioned to his district officers at the treasury office recently that he deliberately stopped that funding from coming through since some members of the mobile squad are not compliant to him.

I  cannot understand why a local MP would discourage vital development projects even though the funding comes from outside his DSIP funds and benefits the people  and  the electorate he represents.

I plead  to  the MP to assist in every way possible to get the project off the ground quickly.

It is not right for a leader to hold back beneficial projects in his own electorate.

If funding is withheld in the name of one or two officers, then it is a totally childish mentality.

The majority of the squad members risk and sacrifice their lives and the lives of their families in good faith to uphold law and order in Kerowagi, Simbu and PNG as a whole.
