Darts to hold extra-ordinary meeting

 PNG Darts Federation will hold its Extra Ordinary General Meeting to elect its new office bearers in Port Moresby tomorrow.

The PNG Olympic Committee supervised general meeting will take place at the PNG Sports Foundation Training Room at Sir John Guise stadium at 9am tomorrow.

The meeting eventuated after prolonged in-fighting amongst the dart followers on who is the legitimate executive.

In a letter dated Dec 3, 2013 to all affiliated association, secretary general of PNG Olympic committee Auvita Rapila said to assist in restoring proper governance to the Dart Federation, the PNGOC will conduct and facilitate an extra ordinary meeting to elect new office bearers.

The meeting was called by PNG Sports Olympic Committee after PNG Dart Federation was suspended following continuous in-fighting amongst the two factions over the leadership of the organisation. 

The Rapila letter continued to say that inorder help restoreg proper governance to the Dart Federation, the PNGOC will conduct and facilitate an extra ordinary meeting for election of new office bearers on Saturday. The suspension will be lifted provided the PNGNOC executive is satisfied that the Darts Federation is being correctly managed in the interest of all members.

The positions up for grabs include president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, public relations officer and women representative. All the positions are two terms.

Nigel Kiaka of Madang, a frontrunner for the presidency post, has been nominated by Bulolo Dart Association and seconded by Graham Narakou’s Lae Corporate Dart Association in Lae.

Under Kiaka’s team, John Kuaru who was the Public Relation Officer has been elevated and nominated for the vice president position while Tabubil’s Jayso James was nominated for the Public Relations Office. 

Wilma Uiari from Popondettta has been nominated to contest the secretary position while Paula Golpak of Hoskins was nominated for women’s representative and the nominated treasurer was Hetahu from Laurabada, an employee of Westpac Bank.

It is understood that incumbent Fong’s nominees are also ready to take on Niaka’s challenge during the election tomorrow.
