DDA empowers community
PEOPLE from Mamalo village in Rigo, Central, received a new tractor funded by the Rigo District Development Authority in Port Moresby yesterday.
The Mamalo community are the second recipients of the Massey Ferguson tractor after the Rigo agriculture and livestock received their first truck early this year.
Member for Rigo Lekwa Gure said purchasing of tractors was to serve the agriculture sector as captured in the Rigo DDA’s five-year plan.
“Although the tractor is given to the Mamalo village it will be used by the Lower Oman areas in the Rigo Central,” Gure said.
He said the aim was to improve the livelihoods of the rural population in Rigo to sustain their farming activities.
