A CHURCH-run school in Pomio, East New Britain, was recently supported with K300,000 from the Pomio development authority (DDA) to improve its students lodging facilities.
Kambubu Secondary School principal Alex Sando received the cheque from the DDA board chairman and Pomio MP Elias Kapavore.
Kapavore said the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) agency school was in consultation with the Sinivit local level government (LLG) administration and the DDA and more support would be given through this partnership.
“The balance of the cost needed to build the new boys dormitory of over K600,000 should be allocated by of end of this year, when there is funding available to the district,” he said.
Kapavore urged the school principal and management to find a suitable contractor to fast track the work and to furnish relevant reports on the fund’s expenditure, so to enable the remaining funds for the project.
Kapavore urged the school administration to ensure the building could be completed by next February.
Sando said this was the first time for the school to receive support from any form of Government.
