Decentralisation gets biggest allocation in financial plan

DECENTRALISATION received the largest share of the 2018 Budget of K3.9 billion – or 26.7 per cent of the total budget.
Treasurer Charles Abel, pictured, said the Government was about distributing fiscal resources in a way that facilitated essential services reaching the people.
β€œThe provincial sector receives K3.9 billion or 26.7 per cent of the total budget, which is the largest share of the provincial budget,” he said.
The provincial services improvement programme got K220 million (K10m for each of the 22 provinces), district services improvement programme of K890 million (K10m for each of the 89 districts) and ward services improvement programme (K64.4 million).”
It meant the 644 wards around the country will receive K10,000 each.
