THE declaration of ward councillors in most parts of Pomio district, East New Britain, has been slow compared with other districts.

West Pomio Mamusi LLG declared Sylvester Boal as the councillor for Irena ward last Thursday.

Assistant returning officer Pius Maka said there were 35 wards in the LLG but the next lot of declarations were expected this week, as rain had continued to dampen polling activities.

Maka said officials had been dispatched to polling stations but the continuous bad weather had delayed the transportation of polling material.

Sinivit assistant returning officer and district team leader Allan Balbal said two declarations had been done at the LLG chamber, with Kim Pibu for Sikut ward and Steven Lulupa for the Sunam ward.

He said there were some other winners declared at the wards after counting but because of communication problems, the information could not be made available.

He expected the team at Illi to declare a winner as the candidate went into the elections unopposed.

The Central Inland Pomio LLG assistant returning officer could not be reached for the latest on declarations.
