Declare SHP regional election failed

THE SHP provincial administrator, William Powi, did not formally resign to contest the general election as required by the Constitution.
He has been on the payroll of the Southern Highlands provincial government since submitting his nomination to contest in the SHP regional seat.
I liken his action to deceiving PNG.
As such, it will be a waste of taxpayers’ money and time when the matter is brought to the court of disputed returns.
The candidates who are contesting the provincial seat are planning to take this matter to the court.
We urge the Electoral Commission to come out and explain why he was allowed to contest when evidence had been produced with copies of Powi’s latest pay slips.
This has been the main issue of grievances by scrutineers and it has resulted in numerous suspensions in counting.
He should have resigned six months before the issue of writs as required by law.
