Delay school resumption

Letters

AS a parent I would like to air my opinion regarding the Government’s announcement to resume classes.
Student’s education is a priority and cannot be taken away.
However, safety measures should be set up at every schools to ensure there’s quick response if a suspected case is found in a school.
Our children’s lives should not be put on the line because they are our heritage and gift given to us by the Lord. We as stewards have the responsibilities to protect them.
I am appealing to the Government to delay the resumption of classes and give more time to fight the deadly disease – Covid-19.
Do not rush to resume classes.
Provide other means for our children to study at home.
At school, social distancing will not be properly practiced and that would be a real disaster.
With that schools should remain closed for our children’s health and safety.

  • I am strongly against the move by the government and the department of Education to lift the lock-down and direct schools to resume. I am a teaching parent and so am not convinced that procedures will be followed in schools where there is over crowding in the school and in classrooms and where students interact during learning and school activities or non curricular activities. It’s a sensitive, safety and difficult issue with COVID -19 when managing some hundreds of students with less facilities like water taps, blubbers, toilets, canteens, also having PPE for every student every single day of school. Can the Education department think about suspending the Academic year for the Lower Primary schools until June and have the Upper Primary schools to design new Educational approaches on how they will coordinate learning facilities and programs based on the current student population of Upper Primary school students. Lower Primary schools will use other means of learning away from school, through emails, school Edmodo internet setting,Mail delivery, Broadcast, etc..

  • I support your call..The pandemic can easily be transmitted in a classroom situation..
From my personal point of view, the current government is making a lot of decisions on impulse without proper advises and researches..
