Delegate hiring functions: MP

POMIO MP Elias Kapavore has called on the East New Britain (ENB) administration to delegate some of its human resource functions to Pomio.
Kapavore made the call during a dedication service for ENB public servants at the Warangoi Secondary School in the Sinivit local level government area of Pomio recently.
He called on ENB administrator Wilson Matava to pass on some human resource functions to Pomio.
The MP said the corporate plan of the Department of the Personnel Management included decentralising functions of human resources to the district level.
He said ENB could delegate the responsibility of recruitment and putting them on the payroll.
“If the task is given to us, we will not only recruit and put officers on the payroll but we will also monitor and assess their performances.”
Kapavore said Pomio had the Alesco payroll system at the Palmalmal Government Station and this could make it easier for the administration to monitor officers instead of waiting for reports from the district.
“I don’t believe in giving up but in looking for ways and means to deliver basic services with help from the development partners and the people in the communities,” Kapavore said.
