SOUTHERN Highlands Governor Anderson  Agiru must prove to his people that he will upgrade basic services in the urban areas of Mendi, Ialibu and Tari.
These urban centres lack proper water supply and sanitation systems since the colonial era.
Sanitation is at its worst. For instance, the Mendi General Hospital sewage system had not functioned for more than 15 years ago and the untreated waste flows straight to the Mendi river, posing risks to the thousands who live downstream, as far as Gulf province.
The Agiru Centre is no different – the water supply is non-existent, sewage system is corrupted and the building stinks of human waste.
Please, clean up the stinking mess!
