Demand seen as blackmail

Letters

IT is unpatriotic for the PNG Nurses Association to blackmail the Government at this critical time to give into their demands with threat of staying away from work.
It was distasteful to hear the president of the association demanding the government to meet their demands. They know that the Government is in a desperate situation to contain the spread of this coronavirus and they are taking advantage of that.
That is being very selfish.
This is clear blackmailing and the Government should not tolerate them.
The association can demand for safety equipment/tools and logistics needed to carry out their jobs but other logs of claim is sort of blackmailing.
Nursing is a noble profession so demonstrate that at this critical time.
This operation to contain the spread of this deadly virus should be a whole of government approach.
There are other organisations also on the forefront such as airport workers, customs, disciplinary forces, doctors, etc who are silently doing their bit without asking much from the government.
This demand at this critical time in our country will reflect badly on the nurses association.
Have some common sense.
I am willing to get a pay cut to help my Government.
