Demands from family, community stressful

Letters

AS a young working Papua New Guinean, I have realised that we do not progress that quickly in life due to the number of responsibilities and cultural obligations towards our families and communities.
This is the reason why most Papua New Guineans cannot save and invest in themselves.
As much as we want to help our families, we should first build ourselves in order to be in better positions to help our families and communities later.
It is stressful and tiring when you are supposed to start your life, but you are still worrying about your whole family.
Our families think we do not have our own responsibilities.
Their demands and expectations are sometimes beyond our means.
In developed countries, children move out of their parents house to start their own lives.
Why cannot Papua New Guineans do this?
