Department of Lands, Physical Planning opens information centre
THE Lands and Physical Planning Department has opened a new Information Centre for the public.
Minister Justin Tkatchenko said during the opening in Port Moresby yesterday that it would enable a more professional and transparent system in the department.
“Gone are the days of you wondering around or going throughout the building seeking information,” he said.
“This is not a place for the public to walk around and do what they like and steal files or misuse the staff here.
“We have converted part of the bottom section of the Lands Department to ensure that we have all the connections to all the computers, all IT connected so people have a one-stop shop when it comes to customer service .”
The centre, which has 10 computers costing K100,000 from the department’s recurrent budget, will have staff serving clients seeking information under various divisions, including an alienated division, Incorporated Land Groups, Policy and Legal, Customary Land Registration, Customary Land Acquisition, Projects, Register of Titles, Survey, State Land and Evaluation Division among others.
