THE Education Department is working on a legislative framework that will explain how education services are delivered to every Papua New Guinean child, Education Minister Nick Kuman says.
He said that during the launching of the commodity component of the Tuition Free Fee Education initiative in Abau District, Central, last week.
Kuman said instructions were given to Education Secretary Dr Michael Tapo, that would ensure that every PNG child would be educated.
“I know that when it goes to the Parliament, every member and minister will support me to guarantee that every child is educated,” he said.
“I want to take a step future on this policy and I want to make sure that every demand of parents in this country are heard.”
Kuman said PNG had made bad policies in the past but the tuition free fee policy was here to stay.
He added there were many critics saying there was not enough money going into schools.
“Let me challenge those critics that never before had a government supported the education sector from elementary to grade 12, as a child has a right for basic education.”
Kuman committed K500,000, a double classroom and two teachers’ houses for Iopara Primary School.
