Deplorable service by education

THE constant negative reports in the media regarding the poorly administered national examinations and the general poor services provided by the Education Department require answers from the department senior executives. The days when it was regarded as one of the top performing government departments seem to be disappearing fast. The discipline among the staff is at its lowest.

Many of the officers have the habit of taking unnecessary and unknown field trips to take advantage of the increase in travel allowances. At the executive level, there is no sign of relief on the bottleneck that has existed for the past 10 years.

The same old people who are now getting close to retirement age remain in their positions.

The time is right to act tough.
