Dept should stop TFF payments

Letters

THE withdrawal of Tuition Fee Free subsidies should be halted by the relevant authorities in the Education Department before the end of the school year.
This is to prevent the misuse of funds by principals, headmasters, board members and some education officials.
Since there won’t be any graduation ceremonies, the TFF funds should be used for relevant purposes and the surplus should be saved for next school year.
Every year, a large portion of funds are budgeted for the graduation ceremonies and those monies are likely to be abused if school TFF accounts are not put on hold before the end of this academic year.
As a former board treasurer of a school in NCD, I have witnessed gross abuse of funds by school authorities in collaboration with education officials who authorise bank withdrawals.
