Deputy health secretary passes away

DEPUTY Health secretary Dr Paison Dakulala passed away early yesterday morning at the Port Moresby General Hospital where he was admitted, an official says.
Department of Health public health division executive manager Dr Daoni Esorom said Health secretary Dr Osborne Liko would release a statement to officially announce the cause of death.
“It is a big loss to the health sector,” Dr Esorom said.
Until the time of his death, Dr Dakulala had served as deputy secretary of the National Health service standards for over 10 years.
Dr Dakulala was appointed acting health secretary last Jan 17. He replaced former health secretary Pascoe Kase whose term ended last Jan 20.
After 10 months of serving as the acting health secretary, Dr Dakulala returned to being the deputy health secretary as Dr Liko took over on Oct 22 last year.
Meanwhile, Police Commissioner and Pandemic Controller David Manning expressed his condolences upon learning of Dr Dakulala’s death.
