Designer putting tapa on the catwalk

Business

Popondetta-based designer Natasha Tamanabae creates traditional-inspired gown from tapa cloth, accessorised with tapa butterflies embellishments on the dress, exaggerated tapa ruffles on the skirt and shells on the waistline.
This is Tamanabae’s entry in the traditionally inspired dress category at the recent Project Runway.
Two years ago, Tamanabae was introduced as the PNG Fashion and Design Week designer to the Pacific International Runway.
Since making a business out of her love for fashion, she has incorporated her collections with tribal designs and artwork, synonymous to her home province of Northern.
A Little Something from PNG (ALSFPNG), through its company director Grace Chin, has been supporting the local market by providing a retail platform for creative talents, designers and offerings since 1992.
