WITH the Government’s focus in making investment decisions, the country must continue to develop investment opportunities, an official says.
Brian Bell group chairman Ian Clough said people need to be coached, supported and developed so that they could add value to the country in different ways.
Responding to The National on the group’s Career Open Day programme, Clough said the challenge was to ensure the country’s education programmes were well resourced.
“We have challenges with ensuring that our education programmes are well resourced, our teachers are well supported and our young people are prepared for the workforce,” Clough said.
Clough said there should not be challenges with the amount of resources in the country.
“Our challenge is with ensuring these resources have the right levels of capability to ensure the country takes a positive direction toward prosperity.
“We need to continue to develop investment opportunities within the country that create job opportunities for our people so that all of our investment in education results in long term, sustainable benefits for PNG.”
Clough said as the Government took more time to make investment decisions, local and international investment interest was slowing down as people became anxious or uncertain about the country’s future.
