I refer to the lack of human resource development in the Nembi Plateau LLG, Nipa-Kutubu.
From the 1980s to early 1990s, many of our men and women were educated up to a certain level and most are in the workforce.
Some became doctors, lawyers, accountants, teachers and other professionals of their choice.
Despite the tough geographical terrain and unfavourable economic conditions, they made it through sheer hard work and determination.
But things changed for the worse from the mid-1990s.
Many students dropped out and the number of illiterates has increased.
Many are now involved in criminal activities and are addicted to drugs and alcohol.
Our MPs must reverse this trend and start to place more emphasis on developing our human resource.
