Developer wants people to take care of new bus stops

THE developer of new bus stops in Port Moresby says that protection of public facilities is everyone’s responsibility.
Forest Peng, a representative of the Shenzen SEZ Construction and Development group Co Ltd, said this following damage done to some bus stop shelters at various locations around the city, with graffiti featuring on the structures. Peng told The National that as developers, they felt sorry that the bus stops had been vandalised.
“Twenty bus stops were set up in various locations in Port Moresby at a total cost of K100,000 from the government of China,” Peng said.
He said the newly built stops were among gifts to the people of Port Moresby under a memorandum of friendly exchange and cooperation from Shenzhen.
“Having been working on the projects in Port Moresby for over a year, we witnessed the great change in this city, less betel nut stains, better environment and better infrastructure.
“The beauty of the city depends on its people, everyone of them.”
Peng said he hoped the public would comply with the government’s plans of putting tougher laws to control and punish on uncivil conducts.
“We hope everyone can work together to present a great city to the world during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders’ Summit in November and create better lives for the people.” Peng said.
