Diggers line up for Catfish challenge

 TABUBIL Rugby League has named a representative side, Tabubil Diggers, after a trial match last Sunday.

The Probables beat the Possibles 24-16.

Tabubil Diggers will play two matches against the Kiunga Catfish, with the first match in Kiunga on July 14 and the second match the following Sunday in Tabubil.

The Diggers: Bubec Wakpi, Benjamin Pereno, Junior Tomba, Lingston Lingham, Titus Gerea (Brothers), Niven Ginua, Umba Kuange, Caleb Siku (Tarangau), Cliford Mek, Jacky Tony (Eagles), Rodney Nana, George Vanua, Tom Nelson, Michael Kaspa, Francis Matmillo Jr, Arnold Tubavai (United), Andrew Vaso, Nolen Aeno, Justine Toniolo (Country),  George Kamani (Tigers).

The team management is, Ferdinand Nongkas (coach), Ben Levi, Bagelo Rei (trainers), James Netepa (manager), Pelius Undi (medical officer) and Peter Naipo (referee).

Following the two-match series a final squad will be selected to participate in the Southern Zone trials to be staged at Kwikila in Central on July 29.

Tabubil rugby league president Jacob Akuzakano said so far no business houses in Tabubil had come forward to support the Diggers.

Akuzakano is appealing to potential sponsors to help the Diggers attend the tournament with funds to meet travel costs, accommodation, uniforms, food and other administrative costs.
