CHRISTMAS came early for children at Moitaka settlement in NCD last Saturday when marketing officers from Digicel PNG and Santa Claus visited them.
The visit was to extend the gift and spirit of Christmas to disadvantaged children who could not otherwise enjoy the festive period like other children.
“It is all about promoting the spirit of giving this Christmas,” the telecommunication company said in a media statement.
“All departments and regional offices of Digicel around PNG adopt a community learning centre (CLC) and contribute their time and knowledge to ensure that as Digicel grows, the community should grow as well.
“This was no exception for the marketing-adopted CLC which is situated in the heart of the Moitaka settlement at Erima in Port Moresby.”
The marketing officers delivered Digicel-branded gift bags and goodies for the children with the help from Digicel’s very own Santa Claus. It was a fun-filled day as the children presented singing items and action songs for their guests.
The Santa Claus outfit and overgrown white beard got the kids smiling and laughing all throughout the day.
The foundation had established 31 community learning centres in disadvantaged communities.
To date, the foundation had funded 131 community-based projects covering 20 provinces in PNG and put K8 million back into marginalised PNG communities which had directly impacted more than 100,000 people.
