Digicel Cup matches to be paired off with Q-Cup fixtures

THE Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition confirmed and released the 2018 Digicel Cup draws for 10 teams yesterday.
The competition is set to kick off on April 8 and with the launch in Port Moresby on Thursday.
The teams are: Snax Lae Tigers, Agmark Gurias, Kroton Hela Wigmen, Petroleum Resources Kutubu Mendi Muruks, NCDC Port Moresby Vipers, EPG Enga Mioks, Bintangor Goroka Lahanis, Giru Waghi Tumbe, PRK Gulf Isou and Chimbu Warriors.
PNGNRLC manager Stanley Hondina and PNG Rugby Football League chief executive officer Reatau Rau in a media conference at the National Football Stadium clarified issues related to the venues, teams, competition rules and referees ahead of the launch.
According to the draws released yesterday, a double header will kick off the competition in Port Moresby with the Vipers taking on the Tumbe and the Isou playing the Tigers.
Hondina said Digicel Cup matches would also be scheduled at the National Football Stadium before SP PNG Hunters home games – on April 22 (Hunters v South Logan Magpies), May 20 (Hunters v Central Capras), May 27 (Hunters v Townsville Blackhawks), June 10 (Hunters v Mackay Cutters), July 1 (Hunters v Sunshine Coast Falcons), July 8 (Hunters v Redcliffe Dlophins), July 15 (Hunters v Northern Pride), July 22 (Hunters v Norths Devils), July 29 (Hunters v Burleigh Bears), Aug 19 (Hunters v Wynnum Manly Seagulls).
