Digicel gets behind Fiba U15 Oceania Championships

DigiceL has provided to the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea with 4G LTE devices, including routers, that will be used to provide digital updates on the week-long tournament.
With Digicel stepping in, the matches can be live-streamed.
Digicel PNG senior vice-president and chief sales officer Lorna McPherson said: “We are very fortunate to partner with Fiba and the Basketball Federation of PNG in this very important tournament that supports a large group of young people not only in PNG but across the Oceania region in developing their talents in this sport.
“We are delighted to provide our products on our super-fast 4G LTE network and reliable connectivity to help the federation with their operations and in sharing updates from the competition with the rest of PNG and within the region.”
Basketball Federation of PNG president Stephen Damien said: “This sponsorship is very important to us.
“It covers one of the most important areas in the competition which is publicity.
“We want to broadcast these games live to all our followers throughout the world live on Youtube and the support we are getting from Digicel will make this a reality.”
The championships feature teams from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Guam and PNG.
The games are being played at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre and Port Moresby residents are encouraged to attend and support PNG.
Those in other centres can watch the games live via Youtube.
Digicel said in a statement that their booths would be set up at the centre to accommodate SIM registrations.
