Digicel launches world service to B’Berry clients

CELL phone company Digicel has enabled its BlackBerry customers to access a broader world of entertainment and information through its recently-launched BlackBerry App World service.
The company’s public relations and marketing department said in a media statement yesterday that the BlackBerry App World ™ storefront service was the official app store for BlackBerry smartphones and “is designed to allow customers to easily discover and download applications on the go”.
“It allows customers to search for and download items for their BlackBerry device,” Digicel said.
It said the service would allow customers to browse and download games, social networking and productivity applications on their BlackBerry handset.
“This service adds more to the original features of the phone, thus, enabling customers to get more out of this handset; a service that is great for both business and pleasure.”
Digicel PNG CEO John Mangos expressed delight in “delivering another first-of-its-kind and value-added service to our customers in PNG”.
“BlackBerry App World offers thousands of opportunities for customers to access and enjoy their music, games, news and entertainment in the way they want.
“Now, they can access a broader world of entertainment and information, buy and pay for apps simply and securely via their monthly phone bill or their prepaid credit,” Mangos said.

He said with this service, items can be bought and downloaded onto a BlackBerry device over Digicel’s 3G network.
Digicel PNG also launched its latest BlackBerry handset, the Torch 9810, two weeks ago in Port Moresby. The handset would soon hit the company’s retail stores nationwide.
