Digicel paves the way for pupils to excel

Education

Digicel Foundation’s document controller Karen Adam has shared her experience on how she got to the top of her career.
The 22-year-old from Barakau village is a former student of Barakau Primary School – the recipient of Digicel Foundation’s first education infrastructure projects.
Adam managed to share her testimony with the Digicel staff, media personnel and members of the Digicel Foundation at the launching of the 10th Anniversary of Digicel PNG Foundation.
“I was in grade eight when Digicel Foundation came. Before that, our classrooms were made out of bush materials and offcuts,” she said.
“When Digicel came on board, it was as great opportunity for the students, it motivated us.”
She said she is fulfilling her dream of working with Digicel after finishing her studies to give back what they have done for her.
Digicel PNG Foundation chief executive Beatrice Mahuru said: “Karen actually applied to be here, so she has worked her way into the organisation that she has dreamed to be with.”
She said she was pleased that the CEO for Digicel Pacific was present to witness the event.
Digicel Foundation continues to invest in focused areas like basic education and health services to create a world where no one gets left behind.
