Digicel PNG Foundation trains local contractors

Twenty community-based contractors representing 10 organisation, have completed Digicel PNG Foundation’s First Contractor Training Programme.
The programme was an initiative of the foundation aimed at informing contractors about the foundation’s processes and service-level agreements, strengthen relationships with contractors and suppliers and ensure quality expectations and specifications are upheld.
Beatrice Mahuru, the foundation’s chief executive officer, said the foundation took pride in upskilling its contractors because its building contractors were crucial to its education and health projects.
“They are the ones who construct the infrastructure and so it is critical that they uphold quality and ensure good workmanship to ensure that our beneficiaries are receiving only the best,” Mahuru said.
The foundation emphasises workplace health and safety with all its contractors and so has embarked on providing first-aid training facilitated by St Johns Ambulance.
