PAPUA New Guinea’s most experienced Olympian, Dika Toua, competing in her fourth Olympiad at the London 2012 Games, showed some of what has gotten her this far by putting together a respectable performance in the women’s 53kg division.
But the 28-year-old said she was disappointed not to have done better, particularly in the clean and jerk where she  managed 95kg but was aiming to reach triple figures.
“My total score was not as high as I would have liked. I thought I had it with my clean and jerk but it just didn’t happen,” a disappointed Toua said.
“But I’m happy with being able to represent PNG at a fourth Olympics.”
The weight she lifted in London eclipsed her 2011 Pacific Games form where she won gold lifting only 65kg in the snatch and 85kg in the clean and jerk.
Toua’s participation at the London Olympics may be over but she has already indicated her desire to participate at future international events, after the mother of two weighs up her options.
While Brazil 2016 maybe a long way off, Toua would be only 32 if she chose to pursue a fifth Olympics.

The winner of the division was Zulfiya Chinshanlo of Kazakhstan who set a new clean and jerk world record of 131kg and an overall Olympic record.
Taiwan’s Hsu Shu-ching won the silver with 219kg in total and Cristina Iovu of Moldova won bronze also with 219kg.
Meanwhile, PNG’s other lifter Steven Kari will compete in the men’s 85kg division on Friday.
Kari has trained periodically with Toua at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute in Noumea, New Caledonia, over several years.
The 19-year-old, who won gold at last year’s Pacific Games is expected to be a regular on PNG teams to future games.
