Diocese queries report into deaths of priests
The National, Monday July 14th, 2014
TWO months have passed since Fr Jerry Inau and a communion minister were killed at Kamulai, in Goilala, Central, but information remains sketchy.
The Diocese of Bereina is still waiting for the final police report.
But there is no police report on the killing of the Catholic priest and Communion Minister Benedict.
“Police ran out of funds and they left the area. We only know what people say and it’s not good news,” Bereina Diocese Bishop Rochus Tatamai said.
“Despite continual killings and marijuana addiction in the Goilala society, nothing is happening. You hardly see hope for Goilala. But we keep on going.
“The Catholic Church provided basic education and health services and a church on those mountains.”
Provincial police commander Laimo Asi said arrests had been made in connection with the killings.
