EAST New Britain Governor Leo Dion has welcomed the inclusion of other sources of funding in the 2012 draft provincial budget.
It includes the district services improvement programme and the district support grant.
Dion was concerned over the inconsistant use of funds at district level and questioned why authorities had not been able to deliver on priority projects.
He said people must not forget that money is also coming directly to districts to create “so-called developments” that are left to the mercy of the chairmen of respective JDP and BPC.
Dion was appalled by the inconsistency and unplanned projects in Kokopo and Pomio which have enjoyed more funds than any other district.
He said the 2012 provincial budget development component will be more than K15 million but could exceed K77 million if it included sources of funds from DSIP and DSG.
