Pato also announced the departure of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Jan Fury who also paid a visit to the head of state.

PNG had enjoyed warm and valuable relations with Canada since August 10, 1976, with the Vatican since March 17, 1977 and with the Czech Republic since January,1993.

He said the relations with the countries had been cordial and friendly and they were committed to continuing that good relationship.

Pato said the relationship with the Czech Republic could be strengthened further because there was interest from companies seeking investment opportunities in the country.

Their experience and technical expertise can be utilised in hydro-electoral and agriculture, he said.

He said with Canada, PNG would try to reengage the services of its volunteer service overseas.
