Disappointed unpaid election worker

Letters

I AM disappointed with the PNG Electrical Commission over its failure to pay service providers for their work during the 2012 general election.
A report published in The National on March 19, ‘Electrical Commission broke’, has left us wondering whether we will still get paid.
We respect EC and we respect the rule of law but our concern is that we want the EC to do the right thing by paying us what is owed to us for the service we provided during the national election.
Not having the money to settle this outstanding payment is not our problem. It was a childish to betray us for the service we provided for the successful 2012 national election.
It’s the Electoral Commissioner’s responsibility to find the money and settle our outstanding.
It is almost nine years, and we are still waiting. We want the Government to intervene, through the prime minister, and pay the 2012 national election workers in Goroka and Simbu before the LLG election 2019.
We understand the process to get funds released for such payout, however, the process should not nine years for the funds to be released.
