MANY schools have not adhered to directives to comply with the government’s decision to the Tution Fee Free policy.

One of them is Fatima Secondary School in Jiwaka which has charged parents K500 in project fees.

It has also imposed K20 as late registration fee for students who turned up one or two days late to school.

The school has ignored the Education Secretary’s Circular No. 4/2016 titled “2016 Project Fees Policy and Compliance”, which put project fees on hold until NEC deliberates on the issue and makes a determination.

The circular from the Secretary was in accordance from Education Act 1983 Section 28 and 29.

The defiance of the Education Act and Secretary’s  circula is an offence committed by school principals and board members.

The Education Secretary must seek legal advice to deal with those schools that continue to defy his  instruction on project fees.
